Issue with Performance Food Group regarding UOM

Good morning team!

I recently entered a couple of Salt & Pepper grinders for PFG, which I published to them as "new."

I received a CIC message of "Review" and we reached out to the customer.  Their reply was that I needed to change the UOM from Calorie to Kilocalorie, which is not what I usually do.

Screen shots of their email stating that the Calorie UOM is being depreciated, as well as what I currently have filled out for the items is attached.

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter!

That would be dependent on them and what their needs are currently.

If your items are not being set-up in their system due to the "D70" value and they would need that value modified to "E14" (Kilocalories) so they can synchronize your item, you might have no choice unless they have a way of bypassing it.

Based on the messages sent by them it seems that your items have passed the "Core" section of the GDSN and the publications should be in "EDM" and they mentioned that you could update the data if you'd like, however if you don't want to update your items they are currently working on a fix. I think it would be best to discuss with them on what the best option for you would be.

However, please keep in mind that updates for Performance Foods Group should be done by saving your updates, no need to republish the .... Please let me know if further help is needed. Thank you!

That is a great question @nancyVigo!

We recommend customers subscribe to the "Technology & Release Updates" section to know when updates happen such as a new GDSN release.

The best way to verify if a value is going to be removed or marked as "Obsolete" would be to verify the "Participant Dictionary " by going to the Valid Values tab and filtering by using the "Last Revision Date" column and select the most recent one.

I've attached a screenshot below of what the "Revision" Column says about the "D70" value. Thank you!

Hello @nancyVigo, it's lovely talking to you again!

Your item currently has the CIC of "Attribute value must be in list" and based on their answer, they are recommending to change the "Calories" to "Kilocalories" so your item can pass the validation and the CIC message to update.

There has been a similar conversation about this earlier in the Community, please review and let me know if you have questions: Attributes for different customers. Thank you!

@Julie, hi!

Thanks for pointing this out and sharing the conversation.

Does this mean that I would need to change all my items in 1WS from "Calorie" to "Kilocalorie" now or as needed?

@Julie, thanks again for the clarification.  I will just change it for them since I believe they are the only ones purchasing these items.

One more quick question, if I may. The conversation you referred to mentions this UOM being "depreciated," which is what PFG stated in their email.

Is this something new that will be implemented because of GS1 standards?

I just want to have a heads up in case I come across this issue again.

Good day,

I have published an item to Performance Food Group; however they want that "the preparation Serving Container" be added. Should I look for this attribute under the Nutritional Facts section as I haven't found it?

Thank you 🙂
