Hardline suppliers sometimes encounter various validations related to the Hazmat Classification attribute and their value requirements. This is especially true when synchronizing product content with Lowe’s as their requirements conditionally change based on how and which attributes information providers populate. To synchronize your content with Lowe’s, this article discusses two concepts for Hazmat Classification; when you have no need to populate hazmat details and when they are appropriate for your product.
Regardless of which scenario applies to your products, you should start by populating the Lowe’s playlist attributes including the “Hazmat Classification.”
No Hazmat Classification Products
For information providers who are synchronizing product content that does not require hazmat classification attributes, the process is more straightforward. Select “No MSDS and not regulated by DOT (CFR49)” in the dropdown in IM for the attribute Hazmat Classification. We call this the “double no” selection for Lowe’s. This will nullify any conditional requirements for this attribute for Lowe’s.
Product Requires Hazmat Classification Information
When your product requires hazmat information based on the type of product, there are details that Lowe’s will require from you. For the Hazmat Classification you will likely select “MSDS and ORM-D without limited or reportable quantity” or one of these other values:
Once you select these values, others become conditionally required. You will also need to populate these attributes for Lowe’s:
United Nations Dangerous Goods Number
The four-digit number assigned by the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods to classify a substance or a particular group of substances. This attribute can be found on the Hardlines, Most Popular Attributes, and other playlists.
SDS Sheet Number (also known as MSDS)
Manufacturer's identification number for the safety data sheet for a trade item. This attribute can be found on the Hardlines, Most Popular Attributes, and other playlists.
You can find more details about these attributes in the IM Participant Dictionary HERE.
