Mass Update - Removing Data From an Attribute

We need to remove the data in the "Package Marks Free From" attribute.  There over 3700 active records to update - what is the best or most efficient way of doing this?  I am always nervous about using the MODIFY operation but I just read when you want to remove data from an attribute you cannot use APPEND - is that correct?  Also, is there a way to only extract active records?

You will get data validation errors on them and they will not be updated if the discontinue date is over 6 months. I have over 10k discontinued items.  Its fun.  I have begged them to figure out a way to do exports that allow you to select only active items.  Now, if you want to do the updates to the discontinued items....sometimes we want to make sure the update is done in case we reactivate....just change the discontinue date.

Hello and thank you for contacting us via our community platform.  I hope you are safe and well.  I completely understand your hesitation with using the Modify operation but if the only value you change for your exported spreadsheet is the one you want to change, you should be able to rest a little easier.  And, if you did somehow blow up your data, you have an exported version of what you had before that you can use again.

You can enter the GTINs you want to search and extract in the IM search by entering the GTINs with a comma between them to help you isolate the ones you want to change.  You can also use any other search parameters that could help you narrow your product list as well. I hope this helps.

When we remove the data from the attribute in the FUSE extract, can we use Modify for records with a discontinue or canceled date?  Do we need to update those dates or can the date remain the same?  Having to go through the files and take out the discontinued records is take quite a bit of time.
