Nutrition Facts change for Sysco?

nancyVigo

Good morning!

I have just been asked by Sysco to change the UOM for "Energy" and "Energy from fat" to Kcal (kilocalorie).

Has anyone else received this message?

Thanks in advance!

This was regarding an email that I received from Sysco asking me to update the Calorie UOM from "Calorie" to "Kilocalorie."  I was contacted by our Quality Assurance Manager and he explained that I would only need to change the OUM, not the value.

I was also wondering if this will be a requirement for all the items we have in 1WS.  Also, I was asked by Sysco to publish the items again after being updated.

Is this actually necessary or would they be sent the update as soon as I perform the task?

It is always fun to chat with you as you ask so many good questions  Thank you.  Yes, per GDSN message choreography, if you update an item that is successfully published to a trading partner, they will receive your update.  Some trading partners, however, may ask you to republish to override any previous publications instead of receiving just the update based on requirements they may have on their end.

Thanks again for the prompt response....it is a pleasure to chat with knowledgeable people! 🙂

@CommunityJedi22, good afternoon!

Please, find attached screen shots showing an error message I received from Kroger regarding the change from Calorie to Kilocalorie (as per Sysco's request).

Thanks in advance for your help regarding this issue. 🙂

Hi @nancyVigo, it is great chatting with you again.

Once a piece of information is updated, it is automatically sent to all retailers that item is published to, so unfortunately it can not be updated differently for Sysco and for Kroger. As a workaround though, we suggest duplicating the nutrient facts table and adding the calories in one and kilocalories in other, while keeping everything else the same.

To add the second panel, please follow these steps:

  • clone the existing panel to not have to type everything again:

  • expand the new panel and edit the needed information:

Please let us know if this helped for both retailers. Thanks!

@Val_P, as always, thanks for the prompt response!

I had never encountered this kind of issue before, so I was not aware that I can clone the Nutritional Facts...pretty cool!

I added the Calories to the second panel and saved the item.

Would the information flow to Kroger without having to contact them?

Also, would I need to do this to every item that I have updated to kilocalories or just as needed?

Thanks again!

Hello @nancyVigo, it's great chatting with you again.

Once updated and saved, the information will flow to Kroger without having to contact them, but you would need to resubmit the items in the Product introduction for Kroger if the items were rejected/pushed back to "In Process Supplier" by the CIC message.

And for the other items, you would need to update them if a CIC review message asks for the update.

@Val_P  and @George_C, good morning!

Yesterday, I proceeded to clone the Nutritional Facts Table, change the Kilocalories to Calories, Saved & Validated the item in 1WS, then resubmitted it in VIP.

I am attaching screen shots showing that the information flowed through (it does show both on their Nutrient Information) and Comments showing that it was received, then rejected again with the same error message.

I am also highlighting what I saw this morning in 1WS (same flow of info as in VIP).

Your help solving this issue is greatly appreciated!
