Deleting publications to deactivated GLNs

When deleting a publication to a deactivated subscriber GLN, I receive the following error:

Publication DELETE for ... resulted in a validation error

~~201-Invalid subscriber GLN (...)~222-Publication does not exist to perform the DELETE operation

The issue is that because I'm not able to delete these publications, filtering items by "Published Items = Yes" results in false positives.  Evidently, the publications to the deactivated GLN count as valid publications!

Is there a way I can remove the publication without running a DELETE operation?

Hello @collin_kindred and thank you for reaching out via the customer community.  Welcome.  Can you provide me an example GTIN and the invalid recipient GLN in question so I can take a close look for you?

Hi @CommunityJedi22,

An example GTIN would be 10077661142971 with GLN 0819316010005!

Hello, you are correct,  That recipient appears to no longer have a GLN registered with any data pool in the GDSN.  As a result, it does not exist and any pubs to it technically do not exist.  Are you trying to delete that pub because it is causing errors in reporting or something along those lines for you?

Hello,

I am having basically the same issue.  SuperValu consolidated to a single GLN now under UNFI.  The old GLNs for individual SuperValu locations were removed but the phantom publications to them remain.  This causes various issues.

  • When I run the publication report by GTIN, the phantoms show up in the list.  But I can't run the report by the old GLN.
  • When an item is updated, it tries to sync with the old GLNs and results in various errors.
  • We use the SAP MDM GDS product to link to 1WorldSync via AS2.  We have dozens of publications in GDS that we can't unpublish because it errors out with rejects or publication doesn't exist as examples.  It is extremely painful to remove these publications by hand from GDS.

Before withdrawing GLNs, providers should be notified so they can withdraw publications.  We now get false positives in 1WorldSync reporting as @collin_kindred points out and have a mess to clean up in our GDS system that will take several hours of manual work.

Attached is a screen print from our publication report showing several of these phantom publications.

I'm trying to delete these publications because the items are discontinued and I don't want them to be present when filtering by "Published Items = Yes" in Item Management.  This is important as I export the published items to a FUSE sheet that then interfaces with our internal pipeline for updating product data.

Thank you for your explanation.  I assumed that would be your response but wanted to be sure.  I will need to create a ticket with our Service Desk and escalate it to our engineering team to have these removed for you in the backend.  I will provide your ticket number here as soon as I have it created and escalated.

Here you go... SDU-431288

Is this solution only for the OP?  As mentioned in this thread earlier, I have the same issue.

Is there a way I can initiate an unpublish from my system that would remove the phantom publication and send back a successful unpublish response?  If only the 1WS phantom publications for missing GLNs are deleted, that still leaves me with numerous invalid publications in my system.

Thank you for your time.

Hello @Food_Fiend .  What recipient GLN are you having this issue with that is no longer registered to a dp in GDSN?
