A common question asked by our customers is how to unlink items in the IM GUI.  Fortunately, this is an easy and straightforward process once you ensure your hierarchy meets the requirements before you attempt to break it.

Before you unlink your hierarchy, please make sure your hierarchy is not published to any trading partners.  You edit your hierarchy structure for items that are published.  If you need help withdrawing or deleting publications, look HERE.

As seen in the screen capture example below, to unlink your hierarchy in the IM GUI, simply open the hierarchy and click the minus sign at the level in which you want to start making changes.  Once complete, click the green "Update Hierarchy" button in the far right popup to complete the process.

@CommunityJedi22, good morning!

I have dealt with the deletion of hierarchies before (by withdrawing publications, then making the changes).

However, I have been asked to add a hierarchy to a 4 Type Display to make it a 5 Type Display (Gtin 00071072003794).

Am I to assume that I would need to go through the withdrawing of the publications, wait the 25 hours, then add the extra hierarchy?

Thanks in advance!

Good morning, @nancyVigo!

We appreciate you for utilizing our customer community.

That is correct! To make changes to your hierarchy, you will first need to withdraw the publication, then wait 25 hours before proceeding with the update.

For more information about this process, please refer to the following article:

How and Why to Withdraw or Delete Publications

Please do not hesitate to let us know in case you have further questions or concerns.

Thank you and have a lovely day!
