What’s New in DataSource |
EU Data Act: Brand URLs Now Available in DataSource Specifications |
The EU Data Act, which applies to connected products in the European Union, introduces new transparency requirements regarding product-generated data.
Under the regulation, brands must provide clear pre-contract information about the data generated by their connected products and how users can access that data.
For e-commerce websites, this typically means displaying a URL linking to a page on the brand’s website that explains the product’s data usage and access conditions.
To support this requirement, DataSource now includes a specification called “EU Data Act” allowing brands to provide the relevant URL as part of the product specifications.

Artificial Intelligence is becoming an increasingly important feature in many technology products. To help better identify and describe these capabilities, DataSource now includes a new attribute called “AI Level”. This attribute allows brands to indicate the level of AI functionality available in a product, helping retailers and shoppers better understand the product’s capabilities. Interested in learning more about how this attribute works and how to use it? Please refer to the detailed article available on the Community Portal. Subscribe to PDM Community Portal Articles to Stay InformedWe regularly publish Product Data Model (PDM) updates on the Community Portal, including categorization changes, attribute updates, and supporting documentation. DataSource API UpdateDevelopment of the new DataSource API continues to progress and remains one of our key priorities. The API is designed to modernize how customers integrate with DataSource by providing a GraphQL API, offering a more flexible and standard way to access product content compared to traditional flat-file deliveries. Following recent internal demonstrations, the team is currently finalizing parts of the data model and continuing testing before the external release. We will continue to share updates as we move closer to availability. |
