Linking Items

I have items linked to hierarchy, but I need to link an item to another parent item. Can you link an item to multiple hierarchy's?

That is a great question! Yes, the same lower level item can be linked in as many hierarchies or configurations as needed. On the other hand, the same parent item cannot be linked to different child items in different hierarchies, so this will work only for lower level items, please.

When starting the new hierarchy, please go to your highest level and you can link the item under the new packaging without the previous or other packaging being added.

I tried to link items to another hierarchy and received this error message: 

This link cannot be created as one or more of the items have already been published.

What am I doing wrong?

If you link multiple items, do I need to publish it.  For example, i added a new display but needed to link the pouch rolls to the display.  The pouch rolls are already linked and published with another master case. when i link it to the new display do i need to publish it because that's when I get the error message.

If an Each is already published as part of other hierarchies and you need to link it to an unpublished Case/Display/Pallet, the system will allow you to. It does however not allow for items to be linked to a parent item such as Case, Display or Pallet if the parent is already published, as this would change the Total Count of All Products, which is locked for editing for published items. In a nutshell, the highest hierachy level should be published only once the hierarchy is fully linked. If it is without linking, the publications need to be withdrawn and the hierarchy can be updated after 25 hours from the withdrawal. Child items already linked in other hierarchies and already published within those hierarchies or by themselves and be linked as child items as long as their parent is not published. 

In your case, please withdraw the McLane publication for 00810201913418, wait 25 hours, then you can link the Case as needed and publish the hierarchy as new again.
