Excessive publications

Hello,

Today while researching issues with some items, I discovered several of my GTINs have been published to exactly 102 GLNs. I can run the publication report by GTIN or perform Manage Publications by GTIN and in every instance I looked at there were 102 publications. I don't think we have ever published a single GTIN to 102 customers. Here are some example GTINs but I fear it may impact all of our active GTINs. The table also shows how many customers our PIM system believes the item is published to.

I also noticed the publications all appear to have happened on November 7th & 8th, 2022. I filtered the work list for those dates and the event Publication Add. I got 51,867 hits. I checked the log of our PIM system and another log from a middleware we use to send the messages and they both show only 28 messages, and none are publication adds.

I looked at one item's history report and it shows on Nov. 7th the publications were initiated with online mode after 11pm. This is a very unusual time for our users to be working on publications. Is there some way to know who or what initiated all these publications? Tens of thousands of discrepancies between what is published in our PIM and what is published in 1WS is all but an unrecoverable situation.

Hello @Food_Fiend I will take a look at this and get back to you. This is most likely more of a support ticket question but will see what I can find.

Hello @Food_Fiend I have not forgotten about you and am looking into this.  I noticed the users in your Worklist and Item History Report for example GTIN 80093901265452 are your batch user ID which is what you use for batch communications like AS2 transactions.  While I look on my end, can you make sure there were no unique circumstances where batch transactions were sent on that date?  Our tech teams and I are looking as well.

Hello @Food_Fiend .  After discussing this with our tech teams, we need to take a deeper look at this for you.  As suspected initially, we are creating a support ticket for you.  Our teams will evaluate further and someone will contact you from Support with answers and feedback.

Hello @CommunityJedi22 Thank you for continued investigation into this topic.  My business user who is responsible for managing publications says she opened a support ticket yesterday but has not received back a number yet.

Here is what I know so far.  Our process consists of sourcing information from SAP ERP, gathering it in our PIM (SAP GDS), translating it to XML in SAP PI and encapsulating it in AS2 with B2Bi which sends the message to 1WorldSync.  We looked at the logs in the PIM and B2Bi for November 7th and 8th and there were 28 messages logged in both of them.  None of the messages were publications.  I went as far as looking at the logs in our test systems but there were none or few messages there also.

In looking at any one of our pallet GTINs (the level we publish at), the pattern appears to be somewhere around 11pm or so on the 7th there are publication adds for all of our customers that show a processing mode of ONLINE.  Shortly after midnight on the 8th there appears to be another series of publication adds to all of our customers but with a processing mode of BATCH.  On a side note, I do not see a user id in the worklist or item history so if you could clue me in on how to find that, I would appreciate it.

One last thing I noticed is a similar situation happened on November 23rd with a GLN of 0838016003360 - 1WorldSync Content1.  This GLN is not in our production system so there is no way we could trigger publications to it from our PIM.

Again, thank you for your time to research this.
