Deactivating Products

Hello,

What is the best way to 'deactivate' a product?

We have several products with the same name (but different GTINs) that are no longer active. This is causing some confusion with our recipients since the name is the same but the GTINs are different. We don't want to delete those products yet. One of our items has a discontinued date of 5/3/21 but our recipient says it is showing as active on their end. So I'm not sure if there is another way we should mark items as inactive?

Also, when searching for items is there a way to only show our active items? So we know for sure which items need to be updated without having to double check GTINs?

Hi there - sorry it took me some time to respond and give you an example of our GTINs:

10077260044003 - old parent / needs to be discontinued.

40077260044004 - current parent.

Child for both is 00077260044006.

Hello @kxsRSC , sorry for the delay as I was out of the office yesterday.  I am checking on this for you and will get back to you.

Thanks for those details @kxsRSC that helped me better understand what you are seeing on your end.  Your child GTIN 00077260044006 is found across multiple hierarchies but is not discontinued.  One of your hierarchies, starting with GTIN 10077260044003, needs to be discontinued.

I see GTIN 10077260044003 is published to 26 different trading partners.  I recommend you populate the Discontinued date on GTIN 10077260044003 (not 00077260044006 or 40077260044004) to a future date.  Then make sure GTIN 40077260044004 which is attached to the same child item is published to all intended trading partners.  Then delete the publications for GTIN 10077260044003 before the Discontinued Date becomes active.
