I am attempting to Create an Item but am getting an error code stating that the GTIN muUPC A vs GTIN

I am attempting to Create an Item but am getting an error code stating that the GTIN must be 14 digits. The UPC A code that my company provided for me is 12 digits.What am I missing? -Matt
