Walmart Launches Item 360

Walmart recently launched new item setup and maintenance functionality for their cutting-edge foundational supplier platform, Item 360. Walmart also announced Item 360 will be replacing Online Item File (Form 33) and Supplier Center in the near future.

One of the top questions we’ve received from suppliers on managing item data exchange with Walmart in conjunction with the new Item 360 platform is “Where does GDSN fit in”?

Great news, not only is Walmart still ingesting item data from GDSN to help you streamline your item setup and maintenance tasks, they are taking in more attributes from GDSN than ever before. They are also further aligning their internal system attribute field names with GDSN and GS1 Standards for ease of use and increased compatibility.

Walmart is now requiring a minimum of one image per product, with four to seven secondary product images recommended, as well as key online attributes, including e-commerce friendly product descriptions, for item setup. These requirements apply to both online and in-store only items providing a richer shopping experience for key initiatives, including the Walmart app, Store Maps, Online Delivery and Pickup, etc. Check out Walmart’s Omni Microsite for additional details.

As a GDSN supplier, you can leverage the Standards to help you create and maintain the accurate, up to date, digital product content required by Walmart that consumers rely on to make purchasing decisions both online and in-store.

(The following categories are currently excluded for Item 360 setup: Imports, Assortments, Pharmacy Rx, Apparel).
