Learn to perform a Category Item Hierarchy Withdraw (CIHW)

There are three reasons you may need to withdraw a GDSN publication (Temporary or Permanent):

  • Request by recipient to do so, generally from those who use New/Initial Load attribute and first attempt was wrong (Temporary)
  • There’s a structural change needed on the product/hierarchy (Temporary)
    • Changing Information Owner GLN
    • Changing GTIN
    • Changing Target Market
    • Changing quantity of a child GTIN in a hierarchy
    • Inserting/removing a hierarchy level
  • The product is becoming Inactive (Permanent)

 

To Withdraw a GDSN Publication:

  1. From the lefthand navigation panel, click Products.
  2. Select your desired product.
  3. Click Withdraw Publication in the action bar at the top of the page.
  4. Select the recipient(s) you wish to withdraw your GDSN publication from.
  5. Define the withdrawal as Temporary or Permanent.

    • Select Permanent if you do not intend to republish your data (product/hierarchy is becoming Inactive).

Your GDSN publication with be withdrawn in four hours or less.

 

To Track the Status of Your Publication Withdrawal:

  1. From the lefthand navigation panel, click Products.
  2. Select your desired product.
  3. Click Edit located in the action bar at the top of the screen.
  4. Click the Publication History tab and ensure All GDSN Recipients are selected.
  5. To review multiple product statuses at once by Recipient, from lefthand navigation panel, click Connections, select a Recipient, and go to All Products tab. From there you can search by a GTIN list, or filter to status “Published Withdrawal Sent”.

Note: Once your product has processed for a permanent withdrawal you can move your product to archive or discontinued to keep your product index more organized.
