One of the more common questions we receive is about how to ensure your item link quantities in your hierarchy match the values for the attribute "Total Count of All Products." GS1 changed the name of this attribute from Qty of Next Level Items to what it is called now, “Total Count of All Products.”
This attribute represents the total count of all products within this item. This attribute is also used by a buyer and/or consumer to understand what type of product they are receiving also used for inventory/warehouse management.
For example, a Case of 12 jars (or Eaches) would have a Total Count of All Products value of 12. The jar (Each) would have a value of “1” for the Total Count of All Products.
Any “Each” level item cannot have a child item linked to it so it would always have a value of 1 for Total Count of All Products.
This attribute is found in IM as seen in the screen capture below:
Let's look at some examples of how your link quantities could look and how they relate to the Total Count of All Products on the parent-level GTIN(s).
Pallet / Case / Each
In this example, the Pallet contains 10 Cases and each Case contains 5 Eaches. When creating this hierarchy, the link qty between the Pallet and Case would be 10 and the link qty between the Case and Each would be 5. There would be nothing linked below the Each.
In this example, the Total Count of All Products on the Pallet would be 10, on the Case it would be 5 and on the Each it would be 1. Example of Link Quantities:
Case / Each
In this example, the Case contains 5 Eaches. When creating this hierarchy, the link qty between the Case and Each would be 5. There would be nothing linked below the Each.
In this example, the Total Count of All Products on the Case it would be 5 and on the Each it would be 1. Example of Link Quantities:
Display / Each / Each
In this example, the Display contains multiple child items (Eaches). The Display contains 10 of Each A and 5 of Each B. When creating this hierarchy, the link qty between the Display and Each A would be 10 and 5 for Each B. There would be nothing linked below the Each.
The Total Count of All Products for the Display and Each A would be 10 and would be 5 between the Display and Each B. The Total Count of All Products would have a value of "1" for the each of the consumer unit Eaches. Example of Link Quantities:
Case Only (Or any other single-level item)
This example is actually the one that creates the most questions. Anytime you have a single-level hierarchy regardless of the type (Case, Each, Pallet, etc.) theTotal Count of All Products must have a value of "1."
Please post any questions below.
I have been watching the modules and I still need help setting up a "case/each" or a "display/each" link.
For example- I have 1 case of widgets and that case has 24 "each" individual widgets in that case. Can you walk me through the proper setup in this scenario so I have a baseline.
Case Only (Or any other single-level item)
in this scenario if we sell to "albertsons" for example 1 case of 24 widgets can we set the list to just be 1 case or do we need to link a case of 1 and then set a new hierarchy for 24 eachese and link the two before we list it ?
Hi @TopTrenz and welcome to the Community. To answer the question about a single hierarchy in the scenario described you would need to create a Case GTIN and Each GTIN link them together then list the Case GTIN. When Listing an item to Albertsons it will take the item selected and anything lower in the hierarchy with it.
When building the item the attribute Qty of Next Level Item(s) is what we are going to be looking at. For this example, Qty of Next Level Item(s) on the Case level would be 24 since you have 24 Eaches in the Case. Qty of Next Level Item(s) for the Each level would be 1 since it is the lowest level in the hierarchy.
Status:
Ready To List
I currently have 9 of our initial items that read like this above but the last two items read like below
Status:
In Process - Supplier
Is the status above just a waiting queue and it will naturally move over where my other 9 ( ready to list) are currently?
Finally, do I have any other steps or is just now waiting for someone from Albertson's side to review?
Hello @TopTrenz, and welcome back!
All items in a Ready to List or In Process - Supplier status have to be topped-off, validated, and submitted in PI for Albertsons.
The Ready to List queue contains items that have been Listed and are waiting for the supplier to start working on submitting them. This is the first queue the items show up under after they are Listed from Entered items.
The In Process Supplier queue contains items that have been Listed and are still being worked on by the Supplier but have not been submitted yet. Once the items are submitted, they move to the In Process Merchandising queue, on Albertson's end so that they can be reviewed and completed by them.
Your next steps for the items will be to open them, Edit them, add the mandatory attributes for the Hierarchy Page, Validate and then Submit them.
I would advise taking a look at the Albertosnos Training Modules. which you can find here ( module 9 videos will show you which attributes have to be added on the Hierarchy Page):

I hope this helps and please let us know if you have any questions.
