three level item hierarchy

I have an product that has three levels to the hierarchy - a shipping case, a retail carton with UPCs for selling, and individually wrapped bars, also with UPCs for selling. I set it up as a Case-Each-Pack, but got an error message. I set it up as a Case-Each-Each, and also got an error message. Then I did Case-Case-Each, and did not get error messages. Is this the correct way to set it up? Is there an item type of Inner Pack to use in these situations? What is item type of Pack supposed to be used for?

Stella,

This is often a source of confusion for suppliers. We recommend that your Inner package product type be PACKAGE. The proper way for your hierarchy should be Case >>Package >> Each
