Updating Min Product Lifespan from Arrival

We're trying to update the "Min Product Lifespan from Arrival" for all of our products. We have many products and are looking for best/most efficient way to do that? Are we able to export the FUSE Sheet and update the information there, then upload the updated spreadsheet?

Good afternoon and thank you for reaching out to us.  I hope you are safe and well.  Yours is a good question.  Yes, the easiest way to update an attribute for multiple GTIN records is to export your content via FUSE, make changes and then export again.

When exporting in IM, I recommend you add the playlist for "Most Popular" attributes as the attr9ibutes you want to update are located in that playlist, among others in IM.  This just ensures the column will be present in your export so you can easily populate it and upload it.

I am not sure how experienced you are with FUSE but do recommend you look at the information we have on best practices.  Also, the FUSE tool can be very powerful so I would not remove values rather, just add the needed values you want in those attribute columns and upload via Modify. If you remove populated attributes in FUSE and then upload via MOdify, you could remove information from IM.  Another alternative is to just upload using the Append operation.

I hope this helps.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you! What is difference between using the Modify or Append option?

Another good question...The difference is very important, especially when updating content from an export that has existing content.  The Append operation updates only the values that are listed in the spreadsheet when you upload.  The Modify operation is a full refresh of all attributes in IM, whether populated in IM or not.  What this means is, if you export attributes from IM, remove any values for your attributes, then upload via Modify, you would remove those attributes.

The best practice is, when extracting, updating, and re-loading, do not remove attribute values unless that is intended

when uploading via Modify or just make updates with Appends to be more safe.
