How do you change item number without deleting item?

Is there a way to change the item number without deleting the whole item? Two of our product have item #s that are switched and I'd like to fix it without removing anything.

Welcome to the Community. Unfourtately, once an items GTIN is created only the attributes within the item can be updated not the GTIN itself. To change the GTIN number you would need to create a brand new item.

Hello @TaraPyure, thank you for reaching out to our customer community.  Welcome.

Once an item is entered in either Item Management or Product introduction, the GTIN (and the Target Market in Item Management) can unfortunately no longer be edited. There are however workarounds for you to not have to add the item and all its attributes all over again if the GTIN is the only piece of information that was entered incorrectly.

In Item Management you can use the Clone function explained here: Video: IM "How To" Tutorial Video - Item Clone. In your case, you will want to choose New Item ID and this allows you to copy all attributes from 1st item to the second, except for the GTIN.

If the item was added directly in Product Introduction only (Kroger or Albertsons), then you can export it as an Excel file - the special formatting we use we call Spreadsheet Data Loader and you can find more details here for Kroger 101 Basic - Spreadsheet Data Loader (SDL) in Product Introduction for Kroger and here for Albertsons Training Module 17: Spreadsheet Data Loader - and you can export the current item, update the GTIN and upload the file back into the system to add the new item for you instead of having to manually add every attribute again.
