The issue here is the item is not registered with the Global Registry. When a new item is added to Item Management it gets sent to the Global Registry, every item every time.
If you look at the very bottom of your item, you can see if you have a response. If you do not Registered/Successful, then you will not be able to publish the GTIN to any of your trading partners. I have established a service desk ticket so I could get this issue escalated and resolved. Ticket number SDU-385620 has been escalated and I will advise the moment it is resolved or you can just check the Registry response at the bottom of the item.

Ok, so is there anything that needs to be done on my end or do I just wait until the registry status says successful?

No, I will take care of it and reply once I can see that it's registered. If you see it registered before I respond, then you are good to publish again.
