Allergen Relevant Data Provided

Hi - me again 😀

Due to the gluten allergen code AX migrating to AW for this upcoming GDSN release, we are digging deeper into how we are populating allergens today.

If the Allergen Relevant Data Provided is set to "YES", do we also need to populate the information for the Big 9 allergens? Or are those no longer needed by populating the Allergen Relevant Data field?

Any and all guidance is very much appreciated.

Hello @lvanhouten and welcome back.  Yes, populate all of the allergen content you list on your package. Then, mark the relevant data attribute as True. The True clears the validations requiring a response for all 9

@lvanhouten , thank you for this question.  @CommunityJedi22  I was told in one of the webinars I attended that, once we picked "True" on the Allergen Declarations Indicator and "True" on the Nutrient Declarations Indicator, we did not have to populate the allergens if they were all "Free From."

Is this still the case, or do we have to populate them all even if there are no allergens?

Does the Nutrient Declaration Indicator work in the same way?  Only need to populate nutrients that are on the packaging. We have customers requesting additional nutrients not on the facts panel to be send via GDSN (ex. Biotin).

Hello, @nancyVigo & @lvanhouten and Happy Friday.  The relevant flags only state what is provided. If nothing is populated it means there is no statement. Can this be interpreted as not containing, yes? But you really need to look at it as all that can be stated is stated.

For nutrients, they should only state what they have on the package or what they know. Where the product does not carry an NFP (Foodservice products). They should provide the same required nutrients as if they did have an NFP. If the product is a single ingredient item (Sugar, Salt) and is not required to have a NFP, they can provide the same required nutrients as if they did have an NFP or provide the USDA Standard Reference Nutrient Databased number for the product in the attribute foodBeverageComposition group of attributes
