Walmart Item Changes

I have 2 items that we deliver DSD to Walmart.  There is going to be changes coming up.  The dimensions and weights are changing.  The UPC & GTINs are staying the same.  My buyer says i need to create new items.  My question is, how can i enter those UPCs & GTINs to create a new item when they are already existing items with those numbers?

The same GTIN/Item ID cannot be added twice in Item Management for the same Target Market. A new item setup would require a new GTIN.

We recommend confirming with your buyer if a Republish as New on the item that is already created is needed instead, if you have not been asked for new GTINs.

Can I make changes to the item before republishing ?  Will it keep the old dimensions on one and have the new dimensions on the republished one?  Or will it will it only show the republished one, once it is submitted?

Your buyer may have been referring to the Walmart Item Number. The specific Walmart Item Number (WIN) is an internal number assigned to a supplier's product configuration, different from the Item ID.

Depending on the item changes, if the dimensions change by less than 20%, then no new GTINs/ UPCs are required. If however the product's Net Content is changing, then a new GTIN/ UPC is required. We recommend checking with GS1 US if unsure. You can also use this tool to check online: https://www.gs1.org/1/gtinrules/en/decision-support.

If the Net Content is not changing and if Walmart advises you to use the same GTINs and UPCs, we recommend checking with Walmart if they need the new item Republished as New or Initial Load. As this affects their systems and how the Walmart Item Number (WIN) is assigned, only Walmart would be able to assist you here, please.
