Case-as-each product type

Couldn't find any threads on this so I'm making this one.  Simple question: when creating a case-as-each, do I choose 'Case' or 'Each' as the product type?

For those unfamiliar, case-as-each products are cases in which the items within are not available for individual resale.  The case is considered the lowest item in the hierarchy.  Think a box of loose mushrooms, or unlabeled deli sauces.

Hello @collin_kindred and thanks for using the Community!

I would highly recommend setting it up as a Product Type: Case as this would be considered a "bulk item". Thank you!

I also have case-as-each items and have a couple questions about best practice management of them. Should the GTIN for a case-as-each use the 10 front loaded to the UPC or is it ok to use 00 as we do not sell the items in the case individually. I also was wondering about the 'total count of all products'., should that be the total of pieces in the case-as-each or just 1 for the case itself. Thank you in advance.

Hello @tedwards and welcome to the customer community. Thanks for reaching out.

As long as you are starting from a 12-digit barcode, then yes, you can add 00 for your Case-as-Each item. For data syncing purposes, a GTIN needs to always be 14 digits long.

For the Total Count of All Products attribute, this needs to be 1 (just for the Case itself) as long as no other item is linked inside your Case-as-Each.

Please let us know if there is anything we can help with regarding this request.

Thank you!
