Once Compare with Live (CWL) is enabled for a product page URL, a comparison will be generated nightly (for standard CWL crawls). Certain actions like importing values into the product record will also initiate a new CWL comparison.

The side-by-side comparison is provided per retailer and depending on the setting selected in your account configurations will compare content with either the last completed publication or current version of the product content with the retailer’s live website. You also have the option to do an ad hoc comparison choosing the alternate product content version - Current Values or Last Completed Publication by toggling between views above the side - by side comparison.

View the Comparisons

  1. Navigate to a product you wish to view by clicking Products in the left navigation.
  2. Click All Filters above the product index to filter only products you currently have Analytics URLs associated and crawling for.
    • Click the URLs subtab in the top right of the pop-up modal.
    • Under Compare with Live you can leave it all sites searched or select specific retailer sites from the dropdown.
      • Matched/Unmatched/Undefined Filter Settings:
        • Matched - will return filtered results that's content integrity is equal to or greater than the % threshold you set in your account’s compare with live configurations for every attribute on the product record.
        • Unmatched - will return filtered results when one or more attribute on the product record is lower than the % threshold that you set.
        • Undefined - will return filtered results for URLs associated with a retailer included in your analytics scope, but you have not turned that URL on for crawling.
    • Click the Apply Filters button at the bottom right of the pop-up modal.
  3. Select a single product by clicking on the product's name or by checking the box next to the product and clicking Edit from the toolbar above the product index.
  4. Click the Compare with Live subtab.
  5. Select the Retailer/Site you wish to view the Compare with Live results for in the drop down menu within the Compare with Live subtab.
  6. You can "favorite" your retailer by simply clicking on the star next to the site page you’d like to favorite. When you return to this page the retailer you’ve favorited will load by default.

The side-by-side view displays the following:

  • Attribute – Shows the name of the Attribute being graded
  • Matching? – Shows whether a specific attribute is used in the matching logic and if it is considered a match
    • The match percentage thresholds of red, yellow and green are configured within the Compare with Live configuration screen
    • Green indicates your attribute data is an equal to or greater match than the % threshold you set
    • Yellow indicates your attribute data is within the % threshold range you set
    • Red indicates your attribute data is below the lowest end of the % threshold you set
  • Alignment % - Shows how similar content in the Syndigo platform is to what is displayed on the retailer website
  • CES Data - Shows the data you have filled out in your Attribute tab within the platform. This is pulled from the Syndigo Data Views, unless you have retailer specific data filled out.
  • Website Data - Shows the most recent content pulled from the live site. You can check the compare date in the top right of the page and, if the item has historical comparisons, select a different date, up to 7 days prior, to compare.

The data presented in the comparison will be based on a nightly comparison that is done. You can check to see when the comparison was conducted with the date listed on the top right portion of the screen. If the comparison service has historical comparisons (up to 7 days prior) you will be able to click the compare date field to choose a prior comparison.

Each listed comparison date will also present a red or green indicator to show whether the overall product content was considered a match or non-match based on the individual attribute comparisons and whether they met the green match threshold.

Both data columns (CES product record data and website scrape data) will also present the timestamp of the data that was used in each comparison.

View Matching - Filters the list of attributes displayed to all, those that are used for matching, or those that are not used for matching.

Highlighted Differences in the Comparisons

The system will highlight the portions of the text for attribute content that differs between the two data sets.

For images, the system does a pixel-by-pixel analysis and will calculate a match percentage along with non-match reason codes that will display in-line of the asset.

You have the option to evaluate images in two ways via the Compare Assets As option in the top right of the Compare with Live page. By selecting Set, CWL will automatically map the closest image matches between Syndigo and the live site. Selecting Ordered List will have CWL evaluate the match percentage in the exact order the images are collected from the live site. The default selection can also be configured in the Compare with Live configuration screen.

To view the differences in images closer you can click on the larger image option link available with each compared asset.

*Note: The Syndigo Data (attribute values) being considered for comparison are determined by the following hierarchy:

  1. Recipient Override Attribute Values (for the recipient/retailer site being crawled)
  2. Public Attribute Values
  3. Syndigo Created

Opening Live Site & Importing Values

At the top of the report you’ll also see Import Values and Live Site. If you select Live Site a new tab will open taking you to the selected URL.

If you select Import Values, a pop-up box appears, allowing you to select specific attributes.

You can import live site content into the Syndigo Platform for each attribute field.

Note, to do this, you must have a retailer specific requirement set established in your recipients tab.
