The GS1 Product Image Specification Standard defines the guidelines for storing digital images linked to products, covering all aspects of digital image storage. It standardizes the file naming conventions used for digital assets, beginning with the product’s 14 digit GTIN followed by an underscore ensuring consistent and optimized search results in Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems. Although embedding additional information like language or serialization/sequence numbers in the file name is optional, doing so can enhance asset organization. This standardized approach simplifies locating assets in syndication platforms and helps quickly identify image types based on filenames. Adhering to this standard also helps stay compliant with evolving GDSN recipient requirements and minimizes the risk of CIC review messages.
