1WorldSync worked with Lowe's to understand their specific requirements for using the Nesting attributes for product synchronization. This article contrasts Nesting attributes from both the GS1 Standards versus how Lowe's requires them for synchronization on their end. You can find more details regarding Nesting attribution in the GS1 Trade Item Implementation Guide HERE.

If you need to communicate Nesting Increment and publish to Lowe's, their resolution and requirement are different than what is described by GS1.

Let’s look at a couple of examples that have helped other suppliers synchronize product content with nesting values for Lowe’s using their unique requirements.

Note: Be sure to populate the Nesting Direction and Nesting Type attributes as well for each GTIN that you provide nesting values. For this example, you would do so on the Pack and Each levels of the hierarchy. You can use the GS1 guidelines for these values.

Lowe's prefers the nesting increments unit of measure to be "Inches" as shown below.

Example 1: Case/Pack/Each Configuration for Trash Cans

For this example, we have a Case that contains a quantity of 6 packs and each pack contains 10 cans nested together. Again, Lowe’s expects you to populate the nesting attributes differently than you would following the GS1 standards.

Case GTIN: No nesting values are populated

Pack GTIN: The Nesting Increment equals the total number of Eaches in the pack. Since you have six sets of 10 cans nested together, the Nesting Increment on the Pack is 60 for Lowe’s.

Each GTIN: The Nesting Increment is set to 10.

Example 2: Case/Each Configuration for Trash Cans

This example is for a Case that contains a total of 20 eaches that are all nested together. Populate the Nesting Increment as 20 on the Each level and leave the Case level blank with any nesting values.

Here are screen captures pulled from the most recent version of the GS1 Trade Item Implementation Guide.

Please let us know if you have any questions about Lowe's requirement for Nesting Increment.
