1WorldSync worked with Albertsons to implement attributes and validations for Bioengineering in Albertsons PI Portal during the release in August 2021.  Some of these attributes are required and there are up to 30 conditional attributes.  These requirements also change the workflow for Albertsons once items are successfully submitted.  This is configured on base-level items in Albertsons PI.

It is possible that Albertsons may ask an Information Provider to populate these attributes even though the Information Provider indicated these values are not appropriate for their product(s).

USDA Bioengineering (BE) Information in PI

Attributes:

  • Is this product not subjected to USDA BE Standard due to?  No other option can be chosen if “None of the Above” is selected.
  • If Other, why is this product not subjected to USDA BE standard? (Attachment Required) Provide a detailed reason along with a statement/attestation on company letterhead that is signed and dated.
  • Please list all BE Ingredients in the Product.  Each BE Ingredient must be separated by a comma.
  • Does the product require Mandatory Bioengineering Disclosure? Yes or No
  • Regulatory (RA) Approved?  Yes or No
  • Regulatory (RA) Approval Date (DD-MON-YYYY) Required if attribute “Regulatory (RA) Approved” is marked as “Yes.”

Validations and Attribute Requirements:

SW0426 If "Is your product used as a component to a recipe to create an Albertsons In Store Created Product or Product that Albertsons Labels In Store?" is "Yes" and "Does this product contain BE Ingredient(s) and /or BE Derived Ingredient(s) that are on or from the AMS list of Bioengineered Foods?" is "Yes" and "Is this product not subjected to USDA BE Standard due to:" is "Other", then "If Other, why is this product not subjected to USDA BE standard? (Attachment Required)" is required on Base Units.

SW0427 If "Is your product used as a component to a recipe to create an Albertsons In Store Created Product or Product that Albertsons Labels In Store?" is "Yes" and "Does this product contain BE Ingredient(s) and /or BE Derived Ingredient(s) that are on or from the AMS list of Bioengineered Foods?" is "Yes" and "Is this product not subjected to USDA BE Standard due to:" is "Other" and "Does the product require Mandatory Bioengineering Disclosure?" is "No", then backup documentation for not being subject to the USDA BE Standard is required on Base Units. Using the Digital Asset controller, please upload the applicable Bioengineered Exemption file(s) and set "Type of Information" as "Bioengineered Ingredient Exemption"

As noted below, it is possible that Albertsons will request additional documents to be attached to the item record in PI.  These could include an Organic Certificate or a Bioengineered Exemption.  Both are "Type of Information" values in DAM.  Organic Certificate is a GDSN value.

Bioengineered Exemption is NOT a GDSN value and is added to IM and PI.  Information Providers using an external data pool will need to attach any documents in the PI portal.
