The changes to Ingredient Statement are based on GS1 standards changes. GDSN is trying to align the nonfood ingredient statement and ingredient statement for an eventual merging of the two into one attribute for an item regardless of being food or a non-food.
1. Nonfood allows for more than one instance for a language. For some items, the ingredients have long chemical names which need more than 5000 characters.
2. The sequence number allows for multiple messages in the same language to be sent to the recipient so that they know in what order to concatenate them to create one cohesive message.
3. The Sequence Number is only required if more than one group is present for the Item ID.
4. The sequence numbers are required if the ingredient statement value exceeds the 5,000 character limit.
Below is a screen capture from the IMPD after the release showing details about this attribute.
Please keep these structure types in mind when troubleshooting these changes:
From here the structure descriptions for these attributes, we can see how these can look in the XML files:
So what does this look like in IM? Let's take a look. Below is a screen capture showing the group and attributes together as well as details about the validation rules and their errors for these attributes:
Here is how these errors look in the Validations Document:
