Indexing Inline Content & Duplicate Content
Is JavaScript Content Indexed?
Per Bing:"The technology used on your website can sometimes prevent Bingbot from being able to find your content. Rich media (Flash, JavaScript, etc.) can lead to Bing not being able to crawl through navigation, or not see content embedded in a webpage. To avoid any issue, you should consider implementing a down-level experience which includes the same content elements and links as your rich version does. This will allow anyone (Bingbot) without rich media enabled to see and interact with your website." - http://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/webmaster-guidelines-30fba23a
Per Google: The yes answer shows direction the no answer is still their official mantra.
Yes: "Traditionally, we were only looking at the raw textual content that we’d get in the HTTP response body and didn't really interpret what a typical browser running JavaScript would see. When pages that have valuable content rendered by JavaScript started showing up, we weren’t able to let searchers know about it, which is a sad outcome for both searchers and webmasters." - http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com.es/2014/05/understanding-web-pages-better.html
In order to solve this problem, we decided to try to understand pages by executing JavaScript. It’s hard to do that at the scale of the current web, but we decided that it’s worth it. We have been gradually improving how we do this for some time. In the past few months, our indexing system has been rendering a substantial number of web pages more like an average user’s browser with JavaScript turned on."
No: "Google Custom Search can't index content contained in JavaScript. The general rule for making sure that a web page can be indexed by Google is to ensure that all of the text that needs to be indexed is visible in a text-based browser, or a browser with JavaScript turned off." - https://support.google.com/customsearch/answer/72366?hl=en
Will Duplicate Content Hurt my Search Rankings?
No.
Google may just ignore the duplicate content. “I wouldn’t stress about this unless the content that you have duplicated is spammy or keyword stuffing.” - http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-duplicate-content-wont-hurt-you-unless-it-is-spammy-1... - Matt Cutts at Google.
Per Google "Duplicate content on a site is not grounds for action on that site unless it appears that the intent of the duplicate content is to be deceptive and manipulate search engine results." - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en
