I am trying to add an item. In this case hams. The retailer is responsible for weighing and pricing each ham. Hams vary in size, so I cannot add a gross weight since it is variable. However, Item Management gives me an error message stating a gross weight must be added. Each case weighs differently. What do I do?

Can you confirm whether you populated the variable weight attribute?

Hello, I took a look at that GTIN for you. Specifically, you are getting this error message for GTIN 10017752500013. That GTIN doe snot yet have a GPC assigned so please do so and then Save and Validate. Let me know if that corrects the issue for you.
If the GPC Brick (globalClassificationCategory/code) is NOT in one of these GPC Segments 50000000 (Food/Beverage/Tobacco) or 93000000 (Horticulture Plants) or 81000000 (Lawn/Garden Supplies) or 89000000 (Live Animals) or 10000000 (Pet Care/Food) then a True value for Variable Weight Trade Item is not acceptable for this GPC Brick Classification.

I opened the GTIN and validated and it immediately validated successfully for you...

Hi, we had this problem as well!
Even with variable weight items, you need to add a Net Weight. Although in reality it fluctuates, use what the pieces are advertised as to the retailer.
Then add the weight of your packaging/plastic wrap per item. That will be your gross weight.
All this is doing is telling the store what to use for a tare on their scale when they weigh your product to price it.
Although this will not technically be the real weight of the product, it indicates to the store how much of the product is just plastic wrap so they can deduct it out of the weight/price.
Let me know if this helps.
