Hello.  I am new to 1WS and am having issues with creating GTINs.  Would there be any way I can get some assistance please?

Hello @mmccauley, welcome to the customer community. Thanks for reaching out.

Typically, your consumer unit/Each is created by taking your product's 12-digit UPC and adding two zeroes to the beginning to create the 14-digit GTIN.  Your Case, if not a consumer unit, should have a unique GTIN assigned to it related to that UPC but not starting with "00."  Instead, it can start with 10, 20, 30, and all the way thru 80 using the same UPC.  When adding the two numbers to the beginning other than "00" you must also change your check digit on the far right of the UPC.

I have attached a link to the GTIN Check Digital Calculator to help you. Please let me know if this helped or if further assistance is needed. Thank you!

Okay, perfect!  How do you determine what digits to use at the beginning when creating the "case" GTIN?

That is something that you can decide depending on what your needs are.  The options are there for situations where you can have multiple Cases that contain different quantities of your consumer unit/Each since the same GTIN can not be used for two different items.

I have attached a file that I believe will be helpful, page 11.

Example of GTIN creation:

EA UPC = 12345678910 C (C = check digit)

EA GTIN = 00 12345678910 C (check digit remains the same as UPC)

CA GTIN = 10 12345678910 C (check digit will be calculated)

Using the Check digit calculator you would add the 13 digits and then click calculate to see what the correct digit would be for the numbers you have entered. In my example, the Case GTIN would be 10123456789101.

Please let me know if this helped.
