BUY AMERICAN PROVISION COMPLIANCE - SYSCO

bf
New Contributor II

SYSCO is requiring us to select values for Buy American Provision Compliance, including providing a Certificate of Origin - Buy American Provision and indicating Yes or No to certify that all products distributed by Alpha Baking Company, Inc. are manufactured in the USA and comply with the Buy American Provision.

Where in IM are these fields found and how do I upload a .pdf of our Buy American Certification ?

Hello @Jezebel,

Thanks for continuing the use of the community.

The Buy American regulation can be provided under the Regulatory Information section of the GTIN. We recommend taking a look at THIS article for more information (the Attributes tab of the document will list the fields that will be taken into consideration for this regulation).

Hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have additional questions.

Hi

I have reviewed the articles and everyone's comments, which is why I asked that specific person what worked for them. I have tried a few different things and nothing is working. Sysco requires this section to be filled out for the FSMA 204 traceability rule so when they say to leave it blank to communicate NO, it does not work. If I leave it totally blank, then it disappears when I save it. If I Put Regulation Type Code to Buy American and leave the Regulation Compliance indicator blank, it says YES in the Sysco portal, If I Put Regulation Type Code to Buy American and put the Regulation Compliance indicator to FALSE it says YES in the Sysco portal.

Do you have any thoughts or ideas before I try asking Sysco, which is never very helpful... 😞

@Jezebel, we are having the same problem with the Sysco portal.  Any item that an item is marked as "synced," it never matches the information in 1WS (like the FSMA attributes).

I am following this thread to try to get answers as well so that we can resolve this promptly since Sysco is already telling us that their deadline for the Buy American regulation has past.

Thanks for being so thorough in explaining the issue a lot of us are having. 🙂

What has worked for me on the Buy American provision is to leave it blank as that's what my answer is. But, I did find out that if you have any nutritional information on your products that isn't 100% the way Sysco wants it, it holds the entire transmission up. For FSMA204, it's crucial that there is no space between FSMA and 204. That has hung up some of my transmissions as well. The problem is there is nobody at Sysco who wants tell you what the problem is on their side. My company is exempt from FSMA204 and for some reason, my fresh pork items transmit over as Yes when they're all no and have been labeled as such, correctly, in 1WS. I've alerted Sysco and have gotten crickets.

Hello @eburger@nancyVigo, and @Jezebel. Thank you for the questions and explanation for each of the situations regarding the Buy American compliance with Sysco.
Once you have added the needed attributes for the Buy American and attached the certificate as requested, if the items are compliant, all the requirements will be met.
As long as the item publication/update did not fail, and we can check that under the Reports > Sync Status, the information will be forwarded to Sysco.
Sysco would need to check with their data pool provider and see where the disconnect is, as the fields were populated correctly from your end.

In theory, that would be great. If you've ever tried to get help from Sysco with their Supplier Suite, it's literally harder than world peace. IF they feel inclined to respond, it's not timely and it's rarely helpful. Just stating experience here.

@George_C, I concur with @eburger and @Jezebel that trying to get any kind of help from Sysco can be frustrating and fruitless, at best.

I wish we would have an actual contact from Sysco that could guide each of our companies to be able to take care of all these issues, but I have not been successful in my pursuit.

Hello @eburger@nancyVigo, and @Jezebel. Thank you all for your replies here.

The contact we usually recommend for Sysco is GDSN@sysco.com, however, as this specific issue also pertains to regulatory matters, there is also RegulatoryCommunications@corp.sysco.com.

If the issue persists, we would recommend for Sysco to check with their Data Pool and make sure the mapping of the attributes from their Data Pool into the Sysco systems was set up as intended and, if necessary, rectify any inconsistencies.

Hope this helps. We are here in the meantime if there are any other updates for this request. Thanks!

Hi @Jezebel ,

I can share my experience with this issue.

I also have tried lots of options.

This is the last one that worked:

1. I added one more Regulation Type Code (pls see below) and left it totally blank. Saved and Validated as usual. (And yes, it disappeared, but I assumed that the system counts it.)

In a couple of days i checked in Sysco Supplier Suite the Last Update Date in the item setup. To see the real picture it should show the date after you made the changes in 1WS - so I asked  Sysco Team to update the system on their side. Only then I saw the result.

Hope, it will be helpful.

@Kateryna, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us!  This is something that we will surely try on our end! 🙂
