FAQs

What is the difference between an FTP and SFTP?

File Transfer Protocols (FTP) and Secure File Transfer Protocols (SFTP) are standard network protocols used to transfer files between computers or remote servers, either on a private network or via the internet. Being the more secure option, Syndigo offers SFTP. Syndigo’s SFTP allows uploading, downloading, and managing files on a Syndigo server, making it essential for businesses that transfer large amounts of data or frequently update files. These files may include images, documents, or datasets. Once uploaded, they can be accessed by other users or systems with appropriate permissions.

How do I get the ingestion form?

Your Syndigo Team member will provide the ingestion form to you and will help guide you through the form.

What if I receive an error or have trouble dropping files?

Contact your Syndigo Account team or Syndigo Support to help troubleshoot the issue.

Can I host the FTP/SFTP or does Syndigo have to host it?

Yes, you can host the FTP/SFTP location. You will provide the URL along with any login details required for access.

How do I update my FTP/SFTP location/information?

Reach out to your Syndigo account team member or Syndigo Support for help changing the location of your FTP/SFTP.

What are some best practices if I host the FTP/SFTP location?

Create a sub folder that your files will go to after ingestion to ensure if/when maintenance is needed the files won’t be reprocessed.

Do you have any tips for a new FTP/SFTP?

Once your FTP/SFTP is configured and ready for ingestion we recommend you test a small file with 2- 5 products to ensure the data is loading correctly.
