Here are some of the attributes to use when synchronizing with foodservice trading partners from a best practice perspective.
Country of Origin - The country code (codes) in which the goods have been produced or manufactured; according to criteria established for the purposes of the application of the value may or may not be presented on the trade item label
Individual Unit Min/Max and UoMs - The minimum/maximum or smallest size of the individual unit inside the lowest level of packaging is expressed as a measurement. This is strongly recommended to be used on Case only configurations for Food items.
Inner Pack Qty - Indicates the number of non-GTIN assigned each or Inner Pack of next lower-level trade items within the current GTIN level It is strongly recommended to be used on Case only configurations.
Quantity of Items in Inner Pack - Indicates the number of next lower-level trade items contained within the non-GTIN assigned Inner Pack. It is strongly recommended to be used on Case only configurations for Food items.
Diet Type Code - Kosher, Organic, Vegan, Halal, Gluten-free, etc.
Storage Temp Min/Max - The minimum/maximum temperature at which the trade item can be stored. This uses a measurement consisting of a unit of measure and a value.
Alternate Identification ID/Agency - Also known as Manufacturer Product Number. An additional method for identifying the item.
- Use: ASSIGNED BY MANUFACTURER (equivalent to value ‘90’ using FUSE or XML)
- Is Optional according to the FS initiative, however, several FS Distributors require this information
- FSEnet recipients' attribute name is Product Code and Product Code Type
Ti/Hi & nonGTINPalletTi/nonGTINPalletHi
- Ti indicates the number of trade items in a layer contained on a pallet
- Hi indicates the number of layers that a pallet contains
- nonGTINPalletTI indicates the number of trade items in a layer on a pallet
- nonGTINPalletHI indicates the number of layers that a pallet contains
For CA only configurations, provide the following attributes to accurately convey contents of Case:
- Individual Unit Min/Max and UoM attributes for Food items
- Ti/Hi
- Inner Pack
- Qty within Inner Pack
Use the following attributes as appropriate:
- Nutrient Relevant Data Provided?
- Allergen Relevant Data Provided?
Data Recipients are struggling to understand if all relevant nutrients are being provided at the appropriate packaging levels. Marking this flag to TRUE denotes that the nutrient data is complete and data Recipients should not fail the item if certain nutrients are not present.
Other Things to Consider:
- Data recipients need to be able to pull the TI/HI information from the highest level of the hierarchy
- For Nutritionals, Ingredients and Allergens, GDSN FS Initiative recommendation is to send at the lowest level. This is due to the fact that these items may be added to other things.
- 1WorldSync recommends sending at all levels of the hierarchy
Component information is recommended to be populated to report information for the distinct items within a GTIN:
- For example, the ingredients for each flavor of yogurt (where each flavor is NOT a new GTIN)
- Allows you to provide the attributes for the product (the dimensions for the box/package of yogurt), and then provide those same attributes for the component (the dimension for the individual yogurt that’s within the package)
