Many Syndigo Space Management customers still use the legacy Gladson taxonomy in the Syndigo system. This taxonomy has about 200 categories that are broadly aligned with sections of a grocery store. Syndigo is updating the names of several categories to better reflect current, accurate terminology.
If you receive a file from Syndigo with category names, you should expect the new names to be reflected around the first or second week of December 2023, depending on when your FTP delivery arrives.

Taxonomy Feedback Requested
We would like to better understand how categories are used by our customers. Today, Syndigo has multiple taxonomies available to customers:
Syndigo Taxonomy: Our main taxonomy that provides granular categories that are much more specific than the legacy Gladson system [3 to 10 levels deep in some areas], with Food/Beverage and other category groupings specifically designed for the grocery market.
Syndigo Distribution Taxonomy: Based on the Syndigo Taxonomy, but providing a mid-level of granularity [usually 3-5 levels deep], appropriate for ecommerce browse directories.
GS1 GPC Taxonomy: This taxonomy is commonly used by GDSN recipients and is supported in the Syndigo system.
Gladson Taxonomy: The legacy Gladson categories, with broad categories 2 levels deep.
