Sometimes you will have more than one version of a product available in Marketplace. There are several reasons for this – such as:
- A brand offers variation in a product package or distinguishing features without using a separate GTIN.
- A display shipper does not have its own GTIN and is assigned the same GTIN as the each for tracking purposes.
- A product is sold in a multipack but recipients may need an image of the single item, too, and the same GTIN must be used to identify the single since it doesn’t have its own GTIN.
- You have both a physical product (Syndigo weighed, measured, and photographed the product), and a “digital” product (Syndigo received dimensions and product images from the brand to verify the product).
If your account is configured to receive different product collections, or there are duplicates of the GTIN active in Syndigo’s system for other reasons, those other versions of the GTIN will appear in the Related Products link inside an individual product details page. In the screenshots below, there are visual changes in the packaging, and you may need one version or another, depending on availability.
Preferred Products Feature and Related Products
Your account may have the Preferred Products feature on its Marketplace, which is useful if you want the broadest selection possible, but you prefer a particular type of content. [For example, you may prefer verified package dimensions for space planning, but if Syndigo only has one version of a GTIN, and it doesn’t have verified dimensions, you still want that product – in that case, products with verified dimensions would be marked as preferred.] When you have Preferred Products, it will be common for you to see other options available for that GTIN under Related Products.
Preferred Products will show in the Products filter if that feature is turned on in your account.
Note: If a display shipper does have its own GTIN, it will not appear in the Related Products tab for the each, but if both the display shipper and the each are linked, they will still download with tray information aligned for Space Management users.
