Does any retailer file work for custom template functionality in Syndigo?

Only files that contain all attributes column by column where item records are established per row are supported using Syndigo’s custom template functionality.

What is required to get started?

Retailer Template (flat excel file, containing all attributes required by the retailer for submission of product content).

How do templates get into the hands of the client?

Typically, clients have an existing relationship with retailers where they have a contact that provides templates needed for product syndication. Other methods include downloading templates from a retailer portal/or website. For example, with Wal-Mart any client that does not use a 3rd party service that has an API Integration to syndicate their content to Walmart will have to go to their site, choose the category template they need for their items and download it.

Can integrated recipient attributes be leveraged for custom templates?

Yes, any integrated taxonomy field can be leveraged on the template build page.

Will data need to be added once a template is created?

Depending on the retailer template’s requirement, data collection may be required in order to validate items for successful submission.

As the manufacturer, would we need to be aware of any changes made to the excel file/attribute list to update the template?

Yes, when attributes or requirements change, requirement sets and templates must be updated to reflect those newly updated attributes/requirements.

What is an integrated recipient?

An integrated recipient is a recipient that has an API connection to Syndigo, such as Walmart. For integrated recipients a template is not necessary. Items must be linked to an integrated recipient requirement set. Once this is complete you can download an export sheet, fill out your data in Syndigo, and select “Publish” for your items to be sent to the integrated recipient.

Why is it a two-step process?

After you complete the requirement set, you will add it to a template.

The template is the file that gets distributed. The requirement set is where you design your attributes. You can design requirement sets on the template as well and put them in any order you prefer. The template is the file that gets produced on Excel containing all of your data.
