The URLs Index facilitates bulk URL management for both Analytics and Enhanced Content users.

You may be accustomed to managing URLs, formerly known as Product Pages, one-by-one within the context of individual products. Within the URLs Index, you can search for and analyze URLs across all product records in a single interface. You can also apply actions to your URLs in bulk, such as enabling or disabling features.

This how-to document explains the basic functions of the URLs Index including search, modifying the columns in the Index, and the actions available within this interface.

Navigation

The URLs Index is accessible as an option in the left navigation menu, just beneath the Products tab.

Filters

In the top left corner of the URLs Index, you will find a dropdown where you can switch from viewing your Owned URLs to your Competitor URLs.

There is also a filter dropdown to view your URLs by Product Status. The Index will filter to Owned URLs and Active Products by default.

Header

The count of your URLs is presented in the header directly beneath the overhead toolbar, and allows you to Select All results, or Clear All selected URLs. The count of selected URLs updates as you interact with this tool.

Search Bar

To search for specific URLs, use the search bar in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The default setting is to search Sites/URLs which ‘Contains’ the text you input in the search bar.

You can change the search settings by selecting the dropdown arrow and picking from a variety of search categories such as Unique Identifiers, reference numbers, and more. You can also choose whether your search is ‘exact’, ‘begins with’, ‘ends with’, or ‘contains’ the phrase being searched.

Change View and Additional Filter Options

The Index is set to a default view that includes columns for the following: Site, URL, Product Name, and GTIN, followed by the enablement status of the following features based on the features available for your account:

  • For Enhanced Content accounts, only the Enhanced Content feature will be shown by default.
  • For Analytics accounts, the following columns will be displayed: Analytics, Compare With Live, and High Frequency, and Last Scrape Date.

You may modify the columns presented by selecting Manage Columns. Then, you can choose from the View dropdown menu for one of the preset or previously saved views, or you can manually add and remove items and reorder the columns freely.

To further narrow down your results, select Add Filter. You will be presented with the page filters you’re accustomed to seeing in other areas of the platform.

Apply Actions

The first step required to apply actions to URLs is to select of one or more items shown in the URL Index.

  • To select all search results spanning across multiple pages of the URLs Index, use the Select All option beside the count of URLs in the Header.
  • To select all the results you see on a single page of the Index (maximum 100 items), check the checkbox located in the upper left corner of the table.
  • To make individual selections, click into the checkboxes available in the first column of the Index by each item.

In the Actions Bar there are a variety of actions you can apply to the URLs you select:

  • The Details function is available when only one URL is selected. A window will appear with detailed information about the selected URL. Within this view, users can manage feature enablement for this single URL, find links to the Product Details and the URL, and see general information about Enhanced Content and scraper details if applicable.
  • The Go To URL action is available when you have only one URL selected. And while you can also apply the actions Enable/Disable Features and Delete on URLs one at a time, the real value of these actions is in the ability to apply them to URLs in bulk.
  • Enable/Disable Features can be used to edit feature enablement for multiple selectedURLs at once. A window will appear with 4 categories of features to edit: Analytics, Enhanced Content, Compare with Live (CWL), and High Frequency (HF).
    • Select one feature you would like to edit and continue. Choose between the options to Enable or Disable this feature, and proceed to the next step.
    • You will see an overview of what will change for the URLs you selected, including the total number of selected pages, how many of those currently have the feature enabled or disabled, and how many pages will be enabled or disabled after you complete the action. If you are satisfied with these changes, click Enable. If you would like to make any changes, choose Previous or Cancel.
  • Finally, there is a Delete action. You may delete up to 100 URLs at a time. A message will appear to warn you that deletion of URLs can not be undone. You should only proceed with deletion when you are certain that you’ve selected all of the correct URLs and that you no longer need them.

Note: Any action taken on URLs through the URLs Index will only apply if the account is subscribed to the same action at a product level. If you attempt to apply a change that is not subscribed to at a product level, the feature enablement or disablement will not be completed.

FAQ

I prefer to view and manage URLs and Features from within the Products interface. Does the URLs Index replace the tools I have been using within individual Product records?

No, users may continue to use the URLs and Features toolset within the Products area of Syndigo if preferred. The URLs Index may be used to support workstreams which benefit more from bulk URL management as opposed to URL management at the individual Product level.
