Add a URL
- Click Products in the lefthand navigation bar, then select a product and navigate to its Product Details page.
- Click the URLs tab.
- Click + URLs.
- In the pop-up window that appears:
- Specify the URLs associated with the product. Type each URL on a new line. You may add up to 256 lines at one time. URLs must start with the http:// or https:// protocol specifier. Once done click Next.
- You will see a new window. If the system cannot validate the product page, please follow the prompts and select which site should be associated to the URLs. Click Submit.
- Now that the URL has been assigned to your product, select which scrapers you would like to turn on for this URL by clicking the toggles below each available scraper type.
- Click Save Changes.
You have now successfully added a URL to one of your products and enabled it for analytics reporting.
Bulk Import URLs
The second option to import URLs is to Bulk add and enable them in the URLs index.
- First, download a blank template from the Activity Log index.
- Choose URL spreadsheet.
- Choose your desired unique identifier. This should be the identifier primarily utilized by the retailer to organize product records.
- Accept, then press Export.
- The file will be emailed to you but can also be downloaded via the alerts bell in the top right corner.
Completing the Spreadsheet
Ignoring the first column, CXH Product ID, begin filling out the URL spreadsheet.
- The Unique Identifier you selected when exporting the spreadsheet - In this case the column is labeled GTIN, will be the product’s full 14-digit GTIN.
- Recipient: is the Website name (Amazon, Walmart, Target etc.).
- URL Type: This will be either owned or competitor. The default option is Owned.
- URL: is the preferred retailer short format URL with the https:// included.
- Enhanced Content: Just type "FALSE" if you DO NOT intend to use this URL for Enhanced Content. Enter "TRUE" if you DO intend to use this URL for Enhanced Content.
- Compare with Live: You will want to type "TRUE" if this URL is a part of your analytics scope.
- Analytics: You will want to type "TRUE" if this URL is a part of your analytics scope.
- High Frequency: Type “FALSE” in this column, unless this URL is being scraped for high frequency use with the First Mover Report.
These last four fields correspond directly to the toggle controls we saw for each feature in the single URL view of the products tab.
Importing URL Spreadsheets
You can then import the sheet following the same steps in the activity log.
- Start by clicking the Import button.
- Select Product URL Spreadsheet.
- Select your file, then click Import. A pop-up modal with appear.
Which Unique identifier would you like to use in this import?
- Select the same unique identifier as you selected when exporting the spreadsheet template. In this case, GTIN.
How should we handle imported products with no matching unique identifier in our system?
- If you are uploading any URLs that are not currently associated with a product record within the product index of your account, selecting Create new products will create a product record with the URL associated to it.
- If you select Do NOT create new products, any URLs within the spreadsheet that do not have a matching unique identifier to an existing product record, will NOT be uploaded.
What should we do if an imported product matches more than one product in our system?
- I recommend selecting the Manually match product option, so that you can look at each of the product records that matched the unique identifier from the spreadsheet, and ensure you are associating this URL with the correct record upon uploading.
What should we do if a product has associated URLs?
- I recommend selecting Update existing URLS and add the new imported URLs to the list with the current URLS. This will look at any URLs that are an exact match, and update them accordingly. If there are new URLs, they will be added to the product record list along with the existing ones.
Once the update is complete, you can check the status of the import from your activity log history to verify it was successful and how many records were updated.
