The Competitor report allows users to compare the performance of “owned” products against products that have been marked as “competitor” products within Syndigo. From this single report, users can compare Pricing, Promotions, Stock Status, Search Rankings, and Ratings between owned and competitive products. A “snapshot” of metrics can be viewed using a Daily Summary, while a Trend graph can be used to compare brand performance over time.

Daily Summary Tab

The Daily Summary tab display separate graphs for each available competitor reporting category: Pricing, Promotions, In Stock (stock status), Search Rankings, Ratings (Average and Count). For each graph, metrics are reported for “My Products” (green) and “Competitor Products” (blue).

To spotlight a specific reporting category, click one of the graphs. The focused metrics will appear below in a dedicated graph and product table. The available metrics will vary based on the report selected, but are directly related to the metrics that are available for that repot type (outside of the competitor report).

Trends Tab

There are two line graphs represented on the Trends tab of the Competitor report. The graphs are interoperable and will display metrics based on the tab that is selected for the top graph. By default, metrics are provided for the last 7 days.

The Brand Comparison graph is the bottom of the two charts on the tab. Once a tab is selected from the top graph, a brand by brand breakdown of metrics is displayed for the user.

Hover over a data point within either graph to see a breakdown of the metrics for each Competitor Report type.

Competitive Products Tab

Customers with the Competitor report feature have access to the Competitive Products tab in the Products section of their account. Products in the Competitive Products tab are included in the Competitor Report in the Report Center or can be used to build custom reports with Report Builder.

Competitive Products vs. Competitive URLs

If you have a 1:1 competitive product you’d like to compare to your own product, use the URLs > Competitive URLs section to add these URLs and link them to your own products. For most brands, this covers the competitive analysis needed.

However, if you track products created by competitors that are not a 1:1 match for your own products, use the Competitive Products tab to manage these products.

Creating a Competitive Product

  1. Navigate to the Products tab and select Create New. (It doesn’t matter what section of Products you start from – all new products added are automatically created as Active Products. We’ll move the new product to Competitive Products tab in step 4 below.)
  2. Add GTINs and Product Names to help you identify the product. Images also may be useful, but all descriptive information is for your reference only.
  3. Navigate to the URLs submenu to add as many URLs as you like for the competitive product.

  4. In the Lifecycle Management section in the top right of the page, click Mark as Competitive.

    • If you ever accidentally click Mark as Competitive on your own product, you can select Reclaim as My Product to move it back to Active Products.
  5. Save Changes.

The product now appears in the Competitive Products tab and is available in the Competitor Report in Report Center.
