The Kroger API (Application Programming Interface) provides you with a new way to sync your product content with Kroger.  They wanted to simplify some of the existing processes for data sync.  The Kroger API provides a more direct communication channel to help you get your product content to .com more quickly and efficiently.  Information Providers can utilize tools like 1WorldSync’s Item Management as the interface with the Kroger API.  This means there will not be a need to manage your content in more than one application once you complete the steps for transition.

We highly encourage you to register for one of the 1WorldSync Kroger Item API Kickoff Webinars.

Do you have to use this new process? Kroger will retire the VIP portal.  Kroger’s preferred method is to have all item setups and updates submitted via the API, which starts within Item Management. That said, we understand that transitioning to a new portal and process takes time to learn.  You can continue using Product Introduction until Kroger retires VIP in the near future.  We highly recommend that you transition to the API to avoid delays with your processes with Kroger.

Will the Kroger API replace all those steps?  Yes, the Kroger API process is designed to streamline and replace the previous steps used in item setup and updates (Kroger VIP). By using Item Management and the API, you’ll experience a more efficient, automated workflow that reduces manual entry and improves data accuracy. We understand this is a transition, so while the goal is to fully move to the new process, there will be support along the way as you adapt.

Steps for New Items

Once the migration is complete, you can begin the QA process to ensure your content meets Kroger’s requirements defined in the Style Guide. Below is a high-level view of the QA process:

  1. Apply the “Kroger” playlist to your items in IM, validate your items, and correct any validations.
  2. Submit Products for Certification by publishing those items to the Kroger API Certification GLN 0838016000123 for review.
  3. Review the Feedback.  Note: If you receive a Rejected CIC, review your item and make all of the necessary updates. Republish as “New” and check the newest response. Review feedback via:
    • Email if you signed up for the “Rejected” notifications.
    • Item Management Dashboard link
    • Within the Item Status link
    • Recipient Response Report
    • Sync Status Report
    • Worklist
  4. Select Certified Products to Sync through the Kroger API and publish to Certified Items for Kroger API GLN 0838016000116.

You can learn much more about this process in the 1WorldSync Kroger Item API Kickoff Webinar, 1WorldSync Kroger Item API Kickoff Guide, Kroger API Quick Sheet, and the Webinar Documentation.
