Hello, jschumann. Thanks for reaching out. Although I appreciate there could be other mathematical ways to determine volume for cylinders outside of GDSN, there are standards for the measurement of volume and height, width, depth. GS1/GDSN defines these rules about how to measure products. I looked at a random GTIN in your worklist as I tried to understand your question and your dimensions are exactly correct according to the standards you are working within for GDSN.

In other words, GDSN provides rules on how to measure Height, Weight Depth, and how to calculate volume. Volume = HxwxdYou are doing so correctly.

I am stuck in a vortex in my head and I need help getting out. 🙂 Someone here who is not in data sync questioned my volume calculations. They said because it is a can you have to do the whole formula with PI and such. But when I started this I had read that it was the dimensions of an imaginary cube around the trade item. I re-read that now and this is where I am going in circles. The sentence 'This only applies to In-box dimensions' has me questioning if we are supposed to even have it on the EACH or both the CASE and EACH? And if I have been wrong in my calculations why has no one called me out on it? What do you all do? BTW our products are mostly in cans, but we sell as a case of cans.

Thank you!!! I have been looking all day for the GDSN rules on that and could not find it. I should know better than to listen to those that aren't involved in GDSN.
